AHDA Prepare for 40th Annual Highland Dancing Competition

In preparation for the 40th Annual Highland Dancing Competition the Antigonish Highland Dancing Association (AHDA) have announced the special events categories and set the date for November 7, 2015.
Bill Cousins Memorial Award for Beginner Dancers:  This Award will be presented to the AHDA Beginner dancer who the judges deem “most promising”.
Pre-Premier Beginner and Novice Flora Dance-Off (4 step): *1st and 2nd place winners of the Flora in the Beginner and Novice categories will dance-off for the Overall Flora award for each category.
Premier: Deannie Beaton Memorial Seann Truibhas Dance-Off (4&2): *1st and 2nd place winners of the Premier S.T. will compete in a S.T. (4+2) dance-off for the Deannie Beaton Memorial Trophy
Intermediate Seann Truibhas Dance-Off (3&1): *1st and 2nd place winners in the Intermediate Seann Truibhas will dance off for Overall Intermediate Seann Truibhas award.
New for 2015 Premier Special Event Broadswords (3&1): Dancers will enter the event individually. Four person teams will be randomly drawn once the entries close. Event will be judged by team, not individual. Age categories will be determined based on entries. In the event there are insufficient dancers for the last set of broadswords in an age category, fill-ins will be used from dancers who have entered first in that category (dancers who enter first have more than one opportunity to compete for prizes). This event will be the first event of the Afternoon. Set steps will be emailed to teachers with the entry form. Prizes: Trophies for Winning Group and medals for other placings.
